Keep the Pod Villages Community Housing. There is nowhere for residents to go.
Stop the evictions of Northern Rivers pod village residents.
Hundreds of people are being forced out of the Northern Rivers pod villages with nowhere else to go.
At least 157 households across five villages are facing eviction, despite the fact that the villages are funded to operate until December 2026 and no final decision has been made about what happens to them afterwards.
The Northern Rivers has a 0.3% rental vacancy rate, the lowest in NSW, and there is little to no social housing available in many of the towns where residents live, work and send their children to school.
These homes are already functioning as community housing. Evicting residents now, only for the pods to potentially sit empty while their future is decided, makes no sense.
We’re asking decision-makers to:
→ Stop evictions until every resident has a confirmed long-term housing pathway (moving into a car, a tent or a motel room is not a valid housing outcome).
→ Keep the pod villages operating as community housing while their future is decided.
→ Work together to ensure residents are not displaced simply because a funding period has ended.
You can help.
Send a letter directly to the people responsible for these decisions and tell them: do not evict people from their homes.
Take action now.
