House You, house us, house everybody.

House You is a grassroots housing justice organisation based on unceded Bundjalung Country in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales, set in the heart of the crisis. This is a region battered by extreme climate disasters and abandoned by decades of public housing disinvestment and demolition, where one of the largest cohorts of rough sleepers per capita reside, where mums and bubs sleep in cars, essential workers are locked out and where investment properties, holiday homes and Airbnbs dominate a landscape that has forgotten people need somewhere to live. Against that backdrop, we campaign nationally.

We believe housing is a human right, not a wealth vehicle. Homes are for living in, not hoarding for profit. We’re organising for the systemic change required to get everybody a house, starting with the bare minimum: rental controls and public housing at scale.

We started in 2023 with a rally to Fix the Housing Crisis on Byron Bay Main Beach. Since then we’ve built our community organising through workshops, conversation trainings, democratic assemblies, events, rallies and direct action. We make online content to cut through the noise and reframe Australia’s absurd obsession with property investment for what it actually is: house hoarding. Our team has lived experience of housing stress, insecurity & homelessness and we are a leading voice on housing justice.

We won’t stop until everybody gets a house.
